Community Midwives

Ante-natal and post-natal services are provided by your own doctor along with the midwife and the hospital clinic. The midwife is available at the Bexhill Health Centre by telephoning 01424 735606.

In an emergency please contact the Labour Ward at the Conquest Hospital 01424 755255.

Health Visitors

The health visitor has special training in the care of young children, and expectant mothers. She can easily be contacted on Bexhill (01424) 810178 between 9-10.30am, and on answerphone at other times.

The Health Visiting Core Service Contacts offered are as follows:

  • Antenatal Visit
  • New Birth Visit
  • 3-6 Month Contact
  • 7-8 Month Hearing Test
  • 12 Month Contact
  • 2 Year Contact
  • Preschool Contact

and may be carried out by any member of the Health Visiting Team at home, by telephone, at clinic or other setting, according to the need.

A Well Baby Clinic which all mothers with young children are welcome to attend, is held 2pm-4pm at Bexhill Health Centre Thursday afternoons.

Macmillan Nurses care for the terminally ill and support their families.

Psychiatric Nurses

Community psychiatric nurses offer counselling to those with emotional difficulties as well as support for those affected by mental illness. One specialises in the problems of the elderly and is a source of help for those caring for a confused relative.
