COVID-19 OUTBREAK

To minimise the risk for both patients and staff, please do not come into the Surgery to make an appointment.  Please make appointments via the telephone.

DR J GONZALEZ

Sadly Dr Gonzalez will be retiring from General Practice on 31 March 2020.  He has given the Practice over twenty years of loyal and dedicated service.  He will be greatly missed by both patients and staff.  We wish him a long and happy retirement.

Old Town

Cardiac Clinic heart_and_cardiogram

Those with established heart disease, or who are at special risk of developing it, are offered a thorough assessment. ECGs and all relevant blood tests are performed in-house, and we have direct access to many sophisticated tests which are normally only available after seeing a hospital consultant.

These clinics are run by Dr Nathan Bailey, Nurse and Healthcare Assistant.

Cervical Clinic

This surgery provides cervical smears which are run by our nursing team.

Diabetic Clinic glucose_reading

This service covers every aspect of care for the majority of our diabetic patients. The clinics are run by Dr Hyongyu Cho and our nursing team. Full regular checkups (including eye examinations) and detailed monitoring are offered.

The highest standard of care is ensured by regular audit and close liaison with the hospital department.

Minor Surgery

Dr Gonzalez has scheduled appointments for Joint injections. The Nursing Team offer appointments for Liquid Nitrogen treatment, and minor operation excissions may be performed by prior arrangement.

All these are offered following a referral by your own GP.      

                    

Respiratory Clinic

Sister Amanda Pragnell runs our respiratory clinic together with Verity Ball one of our healthcare assistants.  We offer treatments for newly-diagnosed asthmatics, both adults and children, a detailed assessment, and those already on treatment regular reviews to ensure the best possible control of their condition, plus follow-up care and review for our COPD patients.

Stop Smoking

Sue Currie, Verity Ball and Vicki Jennings our healthcare assistants offer a comprehensive advice and follow up for patients wishing to stop smoking, including nicotine replacement therapy.

3 Year Check

We are happy to offer those patients between 16 and 74 years who are well and rarely consult the doctor an opportunity to have a health assessment by the healthcare sssistant once in 3 years.

If you are 75 years of age or over an annual assessment is available. Ask the receptionist for a ‘ Well Person Check ‘

Well Women pregnant_bp

The Well Woman Clinic offers an opportunity to see a woman doctor for a gynaecological problem.

Seasonal Influenza Vaccination (‘Flu Jabs)

Sessions are held between September and November each year. Times are advertised well in advance at the surgery. Places on the sessions are booked in advance.

We recommend ‘flu vaccination if you are:

  • aged 65 or over
  • suffer from heart or lung conditions
  • have any chronic disease
  • a carer
  • pregnant
  • a poultry worker

Dermatology Clinic

Dr Matthew Williams and Dr Natasha Hinves run dermatology clinics at the surgery.  Please see your GP for a referral.

Sexual Health Clinic

Dr Gonzalez, together with one of our Health Care Assistants, run a Sexual Health Clinic giving advice. Prescriptions and contraception including, the pill, emergency contraception, long term hormone implants and intrauterine devices. They will also give advice on sexually transmitted infections

Testing for Hepatitis B and HIV is also available.

The clinic is for pre-booked appointments.
